LWAG hosting Mercury Hydrologist David Payne at February 16 meeting 2023

From Mercury website: Lake Taupō has water flowing into it from many sources, but only one river flows out – the Mighty Waikato, New Zealand’s longest river. Lake Taupō provides the primary storage for the Waikato Hydro System. The water level in the lake is maintained between a maximum high and a maximum low (a range of 1.4 metres) as we release water to flow down the river through the hydro turbines. This is just 1% of the lake’s total volume.
